Housing
CMM participates in the Atlantic First Nation Housing & Infrastructure Network. The Manager of the LENR unit attends the meetings in order to keep CMM communities well-informed on housing developments and provide an accessible venue for community input.
With the end of the Canada Economic Action Plan Program to improve First Nations housing, the demand for inspections services were reduced. Housing has a certified NISI inspector on staff who is working towards his Level 1 certification to become a Code Compliance Housing Inspector. In addition Housing has the first 2 certified First Nations Energy Auditors on staff. They are trained and certified to perform official home energy audits which are very useful for home maintenance and required to access certain rebate programs from organizations such as Efficiency Nova Scotia as well as both the Provincial and Federal government rebate programs.
